Establishing an
objective, market-driven measure of IP value
Technology-based
corporations and capital market investors need competent, objective,
yet affordable valuation of their intellectual property.
IP Resources can provide two levels of valuation for a given patent or
technology asset. As a
baseline, we employ the Technology Risk/Reward Unit (TRRU ®)
valuation algorithm developed by the Patent & License Exchange (Pl-xsm)
which is based on the Black-Scholes call option pricing formula.
Using
the mathematically derived Pl-xsm
valuation as a benchmark, IP Resources adds value by integrating
more subjective, but equally significant qualitative market factors
into the valuation process. For
example, valuation is heavily influenced by the degree and
significance of benefit delivered by the technology, risks to
successful commercial development, and market and technical
strengths of competitive solutions.
These issues and more are investigated and analyzed, then
integrated into the valuation model with appropriate weighting.
IP Resources valuations deliver a reliable measure of market
value for a technology asset in a relatively short time at a very
reasonable cost. Deliverables consist of a comprehensive report for each
technology valuated, including detailed background data, supporting
rationales and a full explanation of methodologies used.
When
to Call
Call
us if you need to complete a valuation after a merger or
acquisition, or prior to making a capital commitment or investment.
IP
Resources can provide to interested parties a copy of a sample
baseline Pl-xsm
valuation report (one not reflecting subjective market data).
Qualifying inquiries will receive details on our proprietary
market-driven process that we use to expand the Pl-xsm
valuation method to reflect relevant market issues, trends
and dynamics.
