James R. Helbig - President

For the past 27 years, Mr. Helbig has provided strategic business and marketing consulting services to a wide range of technology companies in computer hardware, software, networking, semiconductor, information technology, biotech and related markets. Technology evaluation and licensing have been a major part of his services to those companies for the past ten years as president of Marketing & Management Resources, Inc. 

Prior to forming MMR, Mr. Helbig was a principal with the Silicon Valley-based technology consulting firm Regis McKenna Inc. He has also served as worldwide corporate public relations strategy manager for Texas Instruments, where he was responsible for identifying and articulating corporate technology, product and market strategy to top national and international business and management media. Before that he was president of the public affairs firm David A. Meeker & Associates. Mr. Helbig has also held technical marketing positions with Martin Marietta Aerospace and ITT Aerospace/Optical Division.

Mr. Helbig is a frequent speaker and writer on technology market and business issues, and teaches technology marketing principles and methodology at the University of Texas at Dallas.

A former chemical engineer and Navy jet fighter pilot, Mr. Helbig brings a broad business and technical background to IP Resources. He holds an M.S.J. from Northwestern University and a B.A. from Wabash College. He is a member of the Licensing Executives Society.

William Cavalier - Counsel

For the past 21 years, Mr. Cavalier has provided investment management and strategic investment counsel to individuals and corporations. He formerly was a Registered Investment Advisor, an investment manager for a nationally recognized hedge fund and testified for eight years as an expert in securities matters. 

Prior to helping form IP Resources, Mr. Cavalier was a principal with Hall Kinion International, an international executive search firm specializing in the information technology industries. He is also a former Member of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange and the Sydney Futures Exchange.

Mr. Cavalier earned a B.S. with honors from the University of California, Berkeley and a J.D. from Hastings College of the Law. In 1979 he was a law clerk for justices Robert Kane and Allison Rouse, California Court of Appeal.

Mr. Cavalier is a member of the Licensing Executives Society. He is also an active member in the California State Bar and of the arbitration panels for the New York Stock Exchange, the National Association of Securities Dealers, the American Arbitration Association and the National Futures Association.
