Property Assessment
Determining the potential market value of a
specific piece of IP, who can and might use it, and how
Beyond the well-accepted practice of intra-industry licensing and
cross-licensing agreements, some of the most lucrative and mutually
beneficial licenses involve deployment of intellectual property
across traditional industry lines and applications.
Thus a major determinant of IP value beyond its use in the
client’s own industry is how attractive it is to would-be
licensees elsewhere. But
who are the best potential licensees for a given technology, where
are they, and just how interested might they be?
We can help if
you are not sure of the potential utility and benefit of one or more
of your patents, but suspect they may indeed offer significant
value, or if
you are simply dissatisfied with your current inter-industry
licensing revenues. more... |

Property Valuation
Establishing an objective, market-driven
measure of IP value
Perhaps the
greatest continuing need that both technology-based corporations and
capital market investors share is for competent, objective, yet
affordable valuation of their intellectual property.
IP
Resources can provide two levels of valuation for a given patent or
technology asset.
Both employ as a baseline the Technology Risk/Reward Unit (TRRU
®) valuation algorithm developed by the Patent & License
Exchange (Pl-xsm)
which is based on the Black-Scholes call option pricing formula.
Call
us if
your IP valuation data are outdated, based on crude approximations
or perhaps even nonexistent, or if
you need to complete a valuation after a merger or acquisition or
(for venture capitalists) prior to making a capital commitment or
(for money managers) when you are contemplating a significant
private placement investment. more...

Property Licensing
Researching,
identifying and engaging potential licensees, then negotiating (or
helping to negotiate as clients prefer) winning license agreements
Based on a
thorough understanding of the client’s intellectual property, its
value and its market appeal, IP Resources identifies and prioritizes
licensing candidates using a disciplined, systematic process. The process addresses vertical industry/application market
need, company business strategy and culture, industry presence and
financial strength, competitive position, and similar subjective,
intangible factors. Guided
by these findings, we evaluate licensing strategy alternatives and
create a proposed approach to market the intellectual property in
question, including an evaluation of key trade-offs and other
material issues.
Contact us if
you don’t have the experience, resources or inclination to take on
the complex, time-consuming task of actively marketing and licensing
your IP. more...

Property Inventory and Management
Helping
clients strategically evaluate and actively manage their
intellectual property against specific objectives
Large
companies with a high degree of autonomy among their business units
often lack a clear picture of exactly what IP they own and what its
status is. Complicating
that, patents and intellectual property within a given organization
are usually highly diverse – of differing patent lifetimes,
maturities (with respect to technologies), applications, degrees and
broadness of market appeal, etc.
Further, IP usually resides in different forms and in
different organizations and locations, with no individual
responsible for its active management in terms of protecting its
worth and optimizing its revenue potential.
We
can help if
you do not have a credible up-to-date inventory and assessment of
patents, patentable IP under validation and unused trade secrets
convertible to current revenue, or if
you are simply uncertain of just what intellectual property you
have, its value, its location, or even its very existence, yet feel
you may be missing significant revenue opportunities.
